French Class RD

It’s the first day of High School. Mel and Adriana walk through the never ending, unfamiliar hallways for the very first time. High school falls into a completely different category than middle school, so this year would be an adventure. Their first class is French, with a Mr. Piere, in room 23. After a bit of wandering around, the girls found it and were anxious to get started with their day.

As they entered the room a particularly musty, old smell greeted them. Mr. Piere was also waiting for them. He was a tall man, probably in his 30’s, not too skinny but not too fat either- he was just one of those “regular looking people.” He had dark black hair and deep green eyes, he didn’t exactly look like the most French person there was but after all he’s just the teacher.

“Pick any seat that you desire.” he told them with a rather calming voice

“Okay, thank you!” the girls said in unison.

The bell rang shortly after they found their seats, they had quite a few in the class so it was hard to find two open seats next to each other. Mr. Piere got right to work- going about it in a rather fast paced French style. No one had any idea what was going on at all. None of them had ever spoken in French before. Already the year was presenting a challenge. As Mr. Piere was speaking he kept sneaking glances at Mel and Adriana. The bell rang for them to get out of class and Adriana and Mel darted out as soon as possible.

“That was extremely creepy!” Mel said, getting chills

“Yeah! Why did he keep giving us those looks, its not like we were doing anything!” responded Adriana

“Well, as creepy as it was, we should probably go talk to him after school to get his help on this worksheet that he gave us.” Mel said

“Yeah, I guess so. I just can’t believe he gave us homework on the very first day of school, what’s up with that?!” Adriana pouted.

As the day went on, the two best friends discovered that they had almost every class together! The final bell rang and the girls walked down to see Mr. Piere. When they pushed the door open, it gave a slight creak.

“Huh, that’s weird. It didn’t make that sound before.” questioned Mel.

The creak was followed by that obnoxious musty smell. Weird. They started talking to Mr. Piere and he was really starting to help them figure everything out. They had worked through the worksheet and now had moved to some other basic French. Adriana had to go to the bathroom so she excused herself. As she was walking back to the classroom, she noticed the time 8:20! Had they really been in there for five hours?! Whoa! She got back and again there was that peculiar creak and the strange musty smell. There was no one in the room. She laughed it off at first-

“Come on guys, it’s not funny!” she stared to get more nervous as the words came out.

The lights flicker.

All at once they shut down completely.

“Of course I’m left all alone and the power goes out.” Adriana said to herself. She fumbles around trying to find a way to get out,

“Where did the door go?” she was reaching everywhere to find a handle.

Suddenly she heard a scream-

“MEL?!?!” Adriana was now terrified. She was all alone in a dark room, and not to mention the smell is rather curious, they had just renovated parts of the school- including this classroom.

“It should not smell like a 100 year old in here.” she thought to herself

She heard the scream again, this time more terrified. She started moving more frantically about the room, looking for a way out. She fell over numerous desks and was sure that she had cut her arm on something along the way. Finally she finds the door again and yanks it open as hard as she can.

The hallways are dark too,

“Great, now I have to deal with this problem- I don’t even know where to start looking let alone which rooms are which.” She kept talking even though no one was listening to her. The spine chilling scream bounced through the hallways,

“MEL!!!!” Adriana is now screaming to try to get a clear response. All they wanted was help on their homework, what in the world is happening?! She starts running. Theres no place in particular, she just needs to find Mel. Her heart is in her throat, what if Mel’s gone. No, she won’t think that way. She decides to start going into the classrooms and searching there for her. Door after door she tries, nothing.

It’s her last hope. The last room. Ariana takes a deep breath, prepared for the worst. She grabs the handle and pulls. Mel. She is lying on the ground, Adriana runs to her. Mel tries to tell her to stop. It’s too late. Mr. Piere has trapped them both in the room. He starts speaking in French again and the girls knew that they wouldn’t be coming back to school ever again.

School starts up the next day- there are two empty lockers and one less teacher, but no one seems to notice.
